Jim Hennington (Director)
Jim Hennington is Actuary who qualified in Australia and has been working in the UK since 1997. He, like Darion, is one of the only two dually qualified Australian and UK Actuaries working with emigrants from the UK to Australia. His qualification is also recognized in New Zealand.
In Australia, Jim spent 7 years working for the global Actuarial firm ‘Watson Wyatt’, commencing his career in 1990. During the time he developed an integral knowledge of the Australian superannuation system and during his time there was transferred to London to work with Watson Wyatt’s international pensions division.
In the UK, Jim has worked in the international employee benefits field, consulting to the head offices of multi-national companies with a particular emphasis on pensions. The international work also included helping senior ex-patriate employees with issues relating to the transfer of benefits to and from overseas.
Jim has also been integrally involved in setting up a specialist pensions administration office for Hazell Carr plc. Here he was one of a small group of actuaries responsible for training the 250 plus staff to bring them up to speed with the intricacies of UK pensions. He has also been working closely with solicitors who have complex issues with their financial assets on divorce or in litigation cases.
Jim is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and an Affiliate of the UK Institute of Actuaries. The level at which he has attained his qualifications is also recognized in New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne. In Australia, the actuarial qualification requires specialisation in two chosen areas. Jim's specialisations are Pensions and Investments. He has also completed the UK's Financial Planning Certificate and holds the G60 qualification (required to advise on pension matters that are restricted by the FSA).
Jim’s main interests (apart from spending time with his long term British girlfriend), include travel and piloting aircraft.
